The trip then continues on to Salta, often referred to as Salta la Linda (meaning Salta the Beautiful), this unique city attracts visitors from all over the world with its Andean music scene, impressive colonial architecture and striking 'painted hills'.     Arrival in Argentina

  • Upon arrival at the airport in Buenos Aires you will be welcomed, escorted to your hotel and briefed on all your travel plans for your stay in Argentina. The rest of the day is free for you to spend either relaxing, or exploring some of the nearby areas. One option would be to visit Recoleta Cemetery, a stunning site surrounded by Parisian-style cafes and bars, and a busy arts and crafts market on the weekends. It is here that Evita Peron's grave can be found, along with those of other notable characters. In the evening we recommend you visit one of the city's many famous steak-houses. Your Argentina Travel Expert will be happy to give you advice, and to make both recommendations and reservations for you.
  • Day 2

    Paris of Latin America


    Buenos Aires

  • The Buenos Aires guided tour takes in many of the city's main attractions, including La Boca, San Telmo, the Plaza de Mayo, Casa Rosada, the cathedral and the old Town Hall, before continuing on to the elegant Barrio Norte and finishing in the quieter residential neighborhood of Palermo. In the evening you will be attending a 'Dinner and Tango' show, with the very best of Argentine cuisine accompanied by some fabulous wines. Following dinner the Tango show will begin, it's a passionate and intense dance, and over the course of the evening you'll have the opportunity to see various dance styles and to hear many of Argentina's most beloved numbers.     Buenos Aires at your Leisure

  • This day is left free for you to enjoy Buenos Aires as you wish, either exploring on your own or taking one of our many extra options. If this day falls on a Sunday you could take a stroll around the San Telmo Flea Market. Alternatively, you could take a morning walk thorough Palermo Woods and the Rose Garden before stopping for lunch and visiting the Evita Museum or the MALBA Museum of Latin American Art in the afternoon. Another great option is the day trip to Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay. Just ask your Argentina Travel Expert for advice and suggestions. (Meals - B)
  • Day 4

    Salta la Linda


    Buenos Aires to Salta

  • Salta Cathedral
  • After breakfast you will be driven to the domestic airport for your two-hour flight to Salta where you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. The city of Salta has a distinctly Hispanic feel to it, with an urban skyline distinguished by the colonial architecture of its buildings and churches. In the afternoon you will undertake a guided city tour visiting the Basilica Cathedral, the church of San Francisco, the Catholic University and the Convent of San Bernardo with its amazing carved entrance dating back to 1762. You will then continue to San Martin Park where you will board a cable car and ride up to Cerro San Bernardo for fantastic views of the city. (Meals - B)
  • Day 5

    The Painter's Palette


    Salta

  • Purmamarca
  • After breakfast you will head out of the city through dramatic mountainous landscapes of many colors, stopping along the way at a number of places of historical and cultural interest. First stop will be Purmamarca (The Mountain of Seven Colors) then Maimar, nicknamed The Painter's Palette because of its striking multicolored landscape, Tilcara, Huacalera, and finally the charming village of Humahuaca, famous for its exuberant carnival. On the way back to Salta, you will visit Jujuy City and its beautiful main square and cathedral, before returning to your hotel for an evening at your leisure. (Meals - B)
  • Day 6

    Through the Canyon to Cafayate

  • Following breakfast in your hotel you will head out of the city to the south, passing large expanses of tobacco plantations on all sides. First stop will be at the Dique Cabra Corral, an impressive 'water mirror', before driving through the deep ravine of either the Quebrada del Rio Las Conchas, or Quebrada de Cafayate. Both have spectacular rock formations and resemble natural amphitheaters. The last stop of the day will be Cafayate, where you will have a tour of the town and its wine cellars which produce the famous 'Torrontes', a fruity white wine. You will then return to your hotel and spend the evening at your leisure (Meals - B)
  • Day 7

    Return Home or Extention


    Salta to Buenos Aires

  • Humahuaca
  • After breakfast you will be shown to the airport in Salta for your flight back to Buenos Aires. Upon arrival you will either be transferred to the international airport (approximately an hour's drive away), or to your hotel, should you wish to spend a little more time in South Amweica.
