Buenos Aires Tango Festival

This month Buenos Aires is putting on its dancing shoes and hitting the milongas (traditional Tango dance halls) of the capital, for the annual Tango Festival y Mundial (world championships). The tango festival is currently in full swing with a packed program of performances, parties, film showings, talks and workshops – many of them free.

There are dance classes running every day, for beginners and advanced level tango dancers alike, many of them taking place in and around San Telmo, Buenos Aires’ traditional tango neighborhood, with its authentic parillas (grill restaurants), tango cafes and beautiful crumbling architecture.

The Buenos Aires Tango Festival closes on August 30th with the spectacular world championship finals in Luna Park. The event is free, but those wanting to attend must pick up their tickets on Monday August 22nd between 11am and 7pm from la Casa de la Cultura (Av. De Mayo 575 – Microcentro). To avoid disappointment, we advice that you head down there early!
